How do you know if something can be called a Game Functional Technique?

'If it is on this depiction then it is an Individual Game Functional Technique'. *Note : Ball moving can occur with 0 touches or 10 touches. We will look at how 0 touches can be thought of as being part of the 'ball moving' phases later in the web-book series.

Technique is a cycle

[Individual Game functional] Technique is not a group of isolated components that have no connection. Team Coaches and players need to always keep this in mind when practicing and developing technique and this is especially important for 'off the ball' technique and the VAAD process.

Also note, the VAAD process can only be truly practiced and developed whilst playing. So to fully develop the VAAD process, players need to play whenever possible (if their aim is to practice and develop their technique in full).

Team Coaches are in the best position to develop technique in full

With this in mind, team coaches are therefore in the best position to coach technique in full (since they are in the best position to play games that force their players to go through the VAAD process). Team coaches must take full advantage of this opportunity.

Players need to take responsibility for what they can control

Also, players need to and should practice all components of technique in their own time, so that when they play (whether that be at training, in the park, in the street, or in the playground) their increasing technical competence develops alongside and compliments their developing football intelligence. If this relationship is in perfect balance it becomes the catalyst for an exponential growth in football ability.
