Training Cycle : Week '#1' :

Note : This isnt week one but is when i started keeping a track of sessions in this way.

Game training exercise used above:

  • 2 wide players in each wide channel play for team in possession.
  • 4v4 in the middle (one defender can go out and put pressure on defs)
  • Team in possession must play wide first.
  • Crossers  (follow 5 rules)either :
    • Attack near post and cut back (if all 4 defenders are in shot block positions)
    • Ping a cross in from the a high wide position (if a Defender comes out and blocks the option to drive in, but allows a cross)
    • Pass back If option 1 and 2 aren't good)  to supporting wide player who pings it in first time.
  • 4 middle players make and time runs into the box (#9, #10, #8)
  • Opposite wide players come in at far post.
  • Can defenders  get good shot block positions and adapt
  • Can defenders win the cross
  • Can defenders close down shots (if not and attackers shoot but miss - attackers get 1/2 a goal)
  • Can defenders win the ball.....and transition in to attack.
  • First team to score wins . Winner stays on.
  • Challenges start with the ball.

 

 

Training Cycle : Week '#2' :

Issue from the weekends game.

1. Individual defending error - led to a penalty and a goal.

2. Defending as a unit : Back line lost their defensive shape at a times.

3. Struggled to convert good midfield possession into  goal scoring opportunities in attacking third.
