TST Coaching Agreement / TST Coaching Expectations :
Part #1 : What you need to know.
TST Coaching Agreement / TST Coaching Expectations :
Part #1 : What you need to know.
Reliability : You must commit to the full (or rest of the) term before starting to coach at TST.
If you have to miss a session, make sure any sessions that you know you will miss during the term are highlighted at the start of the term (& this should not be many). If this is a problem, and if you are likely to regularly miss sessions on short notice, then TST coaching isn't the right fit for you.
Punctuality : You should never be late, unless it's absolutely unavoidable. It is a terrible look when kids are left coachless at the start of the session.
Poor punctuality is a sign of disrespect to the program and the kids being coach.
Presentability : You must look like a coach (wear all black as much as possible and TST logo stuff if you have it).
Communication : You need to communicate as early as possible about any issues you have with regards to your coaching availability throughout the term and future terms.
If the above is great then you will have no issues at TST (.....as long as you are also a good coach).
Learn the TST 2v2 (if applicable) and 3v3 curriculum. It may require a bit of study and practice. Coaches need to learn this to ensure that all coaches are on the same page in terms of the session format : [footwork, 1v1s, triangle (left and right) based positioning, first touch & passing] and how to teach it. There is a link below that will introduce you to this.
Paint a good picture of technique (look good on teh ball) and how to use it.
Be creative when designing tech games ( that develop the ability to deal with 1v1 moments / pressure problems). ' Escape to space'.
Note : 1v1s are not about tricks and moves. 1v1s are about the use of available space and a 'race to space', and the understanding that space is what the game is all about. 1v1s are a 'cat and mouse' 'race to space' game between the attacker and the defender. At an advanced level footwork is done with the eyes off the ball. Bad players look down on the ball when moving it. Good players look ahead and see the pressure (in detail), the space, the options and the game.
Also, 1v1s does not mean you need to beat the defender, or even get past the defender. It is just that attackers need to work out what space they can use and what spaces they can't - and then get to the best space first.
PLEASE be actively engaged in the SSGs (2v2s,3v3s) so that the players feed off your positive energy.
Be nurturing, positive and inspiring to all players at TST.
We need your current WWCC.
So with this said, the equivalent hourly rate (EHR) is simply the full terms pay expressed as an hourly rate so it is easier to understand.
Pay is paid as a lump sum at the start of the next term. [So 10 weeks : 2pm-5.30pm @ $50/hr (for example) = $1750 subject to the RPPC requirements above]. If this payment method doesn't work for you, then we can discuss something different, but the EHR will be lower if you are paid differently.
Whilst coaching at TST, if you demonstrate a lack of professionalism ( particularly unreliability, poor punctuality or poor communication) and we ask you to leave the program as a result, you will only be paid a base rate (which is a $20 equivalent hourly rate for the hours you coached). This discourages unprofessional coaches who intentionally join the program (and say all the right things) but then are unprofessional in some way.
The Full EHR is based on your commitment to coach a full term (or coach all the sessions you said you would coach at the start of term). If you start missing sessions not agreed to at the start, and can't guarantee 100% commitment to the sessions you committed to, then you will be asked to leave the program and you will only be paid at the Base EHR ($20/hr).
If you have to leave the program unexpectedly (mid term), you forfeit your pay for the sessions coached. (As you are contracted to coach the full term, or less if it was agreed and you only get paid for coaching the full term (or less if agreed).
In a nutshell :
Act professionally, then there will not be problem.
If you need to leave, then do it professionally, and there will not be a problem.
If you know you will leave at the end of the term, let us know before the end of the term so we can find a new coach.
Your commitment to TST on Saturday afternoons should come above all other commitments. One-off occasions (Like your Dads 60th etc) should be known in advance and so should be communicated well in advance (in writing at the start of the term) and so won't be a problem. If you can't do this, then please do not get involved at TST. Missing sessions puts a huge strain on the program so we hope if a session is missed it is for a good reason. If it's to go out with friends (or something similar) this would imply that you don't see TST as a priority. If you commit, TST should come first.
New coaches: If you can't guarantee you will work to at least to the end of a term, and be available every Saturday (in school term - not holidays) during the term you committed to, then please do not get involved at TST.
If there is an issue which makes this hard, then we may be able to work out something but this needs to be agreed to before you start coaching.
Probationary period : If you start coaching (and so agree to these terms and conditions above) but then quickly start missing Saturday afternoons due to other commitments, then you will no longer be required as a coach at TST and you will not get paid for the sessions you have done (as you have not fulfilled the conditions of this contract) or at best you will be paid at the Base EHR ($20) for the coaching you did do.
Also if you simply leave the program after a few sessions then you will not get paid for the small number of sessions you did.
If you behave in a way that negatively affects the program and don't meet the standards of professionalism (RPPC) we ask for, the EHR will be the base rate [$20/hour] and you will be asked to leave the program.
By coaching a session at TST after being given these guidelines, which includes part #2 (link below), means you have read it, and agree to it.
If you don't agree to it then let's chat and see what the issues are.
New coaches : If you have concerns, chat to the coaches who have been at TST for a long time.
So with all this said : Please let me know which dates/weeks that you know you will miss this term. You need to do this at the end of every term (before the next term). This is part of the RPPC standards.
If you are keen to continue coaching at TST, then make sure you update the following at the end of each term.
The dates you know you will miss next term.
New coaches : A copy (email) of your WWCC :
Existing coaches : A copy of your new WWCC if applicable.
