Crossing

Crossing Zones.png

Note; If you are an inverted winger and you don't want to cross with your weak foot. It is o to cutback onto your strong foot and cross from the edge of the box. Curve it into the far post area. You never know it might even go in.

Obviously the technical quality of some of these crosses is phenomenal, but the key is to just establish what the rules are.

  • Where the cross is hit from will determine the type of cross that is hit.

Team SOP : Crossing Rules

Watch the video below to get a basic understanding of a few simple crossing rules.

  1. Miss the first defender and keep it away from  the keeper.
  2. When crossing - Hit the space (don't aim for players - aim for the spaces).
  3. Get to cut back spot (or as close to) if possible.
  4. Let the forwards find the spaces and time their movement into the spaces.
  5. Adapt to what ever the moment requires.
