Ball Mastery : Hopping : Foot Shapes : Fundamental Touches

The slow development of these types of ball mastery exercises will lay down excellent foundations for all footwork techniques and patterns.

This can be done as a quick warm up, before FFPs are practiced etc. 5 Minutes maximum They are not easy and even older players struggle with the 'dexterity of touch' required to do these exercises well ( fast, smooth etc) but all players should be developing these exercises and shold be regularly tested on their ability to manipulate the ball around their feet.

These exercises should also be promoted as homework. Requires very little spoace and a ball. That's it ! Can be done in doors. No excuses !!

The progressions would be :

  • Learn the pattern.
  • Get smooth
  • Get fast.
  • Get The head up.
  • Start checking and scanning.

 

 

All players at TST should be able to do this before they move to the 3.45pm session.
