Physical Components

Below is a list of physical components that need to be developed and mastered.

Each component in this list links to a page containing example exercises which you could use to develop your physical attributes.

We have not include every possible exercise at every possible level but instead have included exercises at the ends of the spectrum. We have included basic exercises which beginners should be able to attempt and do,  an also included what we call 'end game' exercises.

END GAME EXERCISES

End game exercises are exercises at the difficult end of the spectrum. If you can do an 'end game' component exercise then then we would suggest that you have entered the maintenance / polish phase for this component, and we would suggest that your time would now be better spent elsewhere.

How Deep do you want to Dive?

If you want to look at each component in detail click on the link in the table. This will take you to a comprehensive library of techniques and how to develop them. Access to these resource is subscription based.

If you just want to get an idea of what to practice then use the info on this page, which offers a beginner exercise for a component and a possible 'end game' exercise. (Note : At an advanced level there may a be a number of end game exercises for a component, so the examples below are just the tip of the iceburg).

  • Fundamental Agility Pattern #1
  • FAP #2
  • FAP #3
  • Hopping
  • Plyometrics
  • Sprint Mechanics
  • Power and explosiveness

Note : This is not our area of expertise. So the videos below are largely taken from social media sources. We will try to make these as useful a s possible. But know this is more about exposure to some of the physical components of the game. Watch the videos. Grab some of the ideas / exercises /methods (that you can do safely) and work on those.

The components below start to look at strength, power and speed development .

Before a player starts working on these components it is critical that they understand the basic physiological mechanisms at work when attempting to develop these components.

Do not work on these components without an

understanding the physiology of building strength, power and speed.

There are huge array of videos on YouTube. We recommend you do your own research, watch other videos and read articles to ensure you don't start an exercise program that either won't achieve what your want or will lead to over training and / or injury.

We highly recommend you seek professional advice before undertaking a specialised strength, speed and power training program.

If you have any good videos / advice to share then please contact us and share your knowledge with us.
